Meatloaf is one of those classic comfort foods many of us grew up with. These petite turkey meatloaves are a lighter, family-friendly take on the traditional dish—easy to prepare, quick to bake, and full of flavor. Perfect for weeknights, meal prep, or serving to picky eaters who prefer smaller portions.

Petite Turkey Meatloaves

Petite turkey meatloaves

These mini loaves cook faster than a full-size meatloaf and are ideal for individual servings. The base is simple—lean ground turkey, sautéed onion, oats, egg, ketchup and a touch of Worcestershire—finished with a tangy glaze. Serve with garlic mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables, or pair with a leafy salad for a lighter meal.

Why this recipe works

Using 99% lean ground turkey helps cut fat without sacrificing protein. Rolled oats replace breadcrumbs for heart-healthy fiber and structure, while a small amount of ketchup and Worcestershire sauce adds depth and a glossy finish. Making individual loaves shortens the oven time and makes portion control effortless.

  • Cook time: 40 mins
  • Rest time: 5 mins
  • Total time: 50 mins
  • Yield: 4 servings (1 small loaf each)
  • Serving size: 1 loaf

Ingredients

  • 1/2 small onion, minced
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 1.3 lb 99% lean ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup oatmeal (rolled oats)
  • 1/4 cup ketchup + 2 tbsp reserved for glaze
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp marjoram
  • Salt, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a small skillet, heat the olive oil over low heat. Add the minced onion and sauté gently until translucent and soft, about 3–4 minutes. Let cool briefly.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine the ground turkey, cooled sautéed onion, oatmeal, egg, 1/4 cup ketchup, marjoram, and salt. Mix gently until just combined—avoid overworking the meat to keep the loaves tender.
  4. Divide the mixture into four equal portions. Press each portion into a mini loaf pan, or shape into small loaves on a nonstick baking sheet.
  5. In a small cup, whisk together the remaining 2 tablespoons ketchup with the Worcestershire sauce. Brush this glaze over the top of each loaf to add flavor and a glossy finish.
  6. Bake uncovered at 350°F for about 40 minutes, or until the meatloaves reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) and the glaze is set.
  7. Remove from the oven and let rest for 5 minutes before serving to allow juices to redistribute.

Tips and variations

  • For extra moisture and flavor, stir in a tablespoon of plain yogurt or grated zucchini (squeezed dry) to the meat mixture.
  • Swap marjoram for Italian seasoning, thyme, or parsley if preferred. A little garlic powder or Dijon mustard mixed into the glaze adds a nice kick.
  • If you don’t have a mini loaf pan, shape the loaves on a lined baking sheet or use a muffin tin for turkey meatloaf muffins—adjust cook time accordingly (about 25–30 minutes).
  • To make ahead: form the loaves and refrigerate for up to 24 hours before baking. Cooked loaves keep in the refrigerator for 3–4 days and freeze well for up to 2 months.

Serving suggestions

Serve petite turkey meatloaves with creamy garlic mashed potatoes, roasted root vegetables, or a crisp green salad. They are also great sliced and served on whole-grain bread with a smear of mustard and sliced pickles for a hearty sandwich.
